Being transformed

Writer's picture: DianaNathan HardingDianaNathan Harding

I've shared a few things over the last day or 2 on my social media accounts about the amazing time I had away in Cedar Park. I had life, truth, hope and encouragement spoken into me by some of the most incredible people. I was reminded of the greatness in me, that is waiting to be revealed. I was given the chance to co-write with some superbly talented songwriters, and bring out a new sound from within me. And I formed more beautiful friendships that I will be forever grateful for.

I am beginning to see even more of what God has placed on my life - from the little girl who just wanted to please everyone (sometimes that little girl still shows up!) to this wife, mum, daughter and friend, who just wants others to know the love of God. The woman who knows that each one of us has a purpose and a plan set before us.

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭10‬ ‭NLT‬

We are created in exactly the way God wanted us to be. When we seek his purpose for our lives, we will find it.

It’s ok to let someone speak words of encouragement into your life - it blesses them too. It’s ok for someone to compliment you - accept it. When we allow truth and life to be spoken into us, we will soon see transformation happen. The Holy Spirit speaks the transforming truth that we need to hear, and sometimes he uses others to speak that truth.

We never want to stifle what the Holy Spirit wants to do in and through us. But the problem is, when we doubt what's in us, and shut down that prompting we feel to step out in faith, we're doing exactly that - stifling the process that the Holy Spirit is trying to begin!

I want to encourage you, if you've been feeling that stirring in your spirit, or that prompting of the Holy Spirit, don't ignore it! Try being practical about it, starting with making a list of the steps you need to take first. The Bible tells us in Romans 12 that God transforms us into a new creation by changing the way we think - we have to allow him to do the work in us, so we can be transformed. And we have to be willing to put in the work, by stepping out in faith, one step at a time!
